Manchester United Hammer PL Champions, Leicester City by 4-1
Manchester united turned out an outstanding performance against the Champions at Old Trafford as they got back to winning ways in the Premier League this weekend. They hammered Leicester City by 4-1. Jose Mourinho opted for Jesse Lingard and Kid wonder Marcus Rashford on the flanks, Juan Mata took captain Wayne Rooney’s place behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Daley Blind returned to left back.
Leicester were without Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and midfielder Nampalys Mendy with Ron Zieler and Daniel Amartey taking their place respectively.
Manchester United got the game going when Chris Smalling rose above Robert Huth to convert Blinds corner kick for United’s first. They extended their lead after Lingard linked up well with Paul Pogba to set up Mata for United’s second giving Zieler no chance. Marcus Rashford made it 3-0 when a quickly taken corner kick was redirected by Mata for Rashford to tap in for his 2nd Premier league goal of the season. Two minutes later, Paul Pogba broke the duck nodding in Blind’s near post corner kick.
Four goals in the first half and the job seem to be done for United in an encounter they wouldn’t have thought so easy prior to the start of the game. Leicester city got a consolation when hot prospect, Demarai Gray produced a spectacular individual effort from 21 meters into the top right left corner of De Gea’s goal.
Manchester United would welcome Ukraine outfit FC Zorya on Thursday and would be hoping to get their first win after the disappointing loss to Feyenoord in the first game of group matches in the Europa cup. Zorya have not lost in their last 4 games winning their last 2. The Ukrainian outfit will be looking to their inform star players, Oleksandr Karavaev and Zeljko Ljubenovic who have scored a combined 7 goals this season to cause an upset at Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho would be tempted to rest some of his starters for the Europa game with one eye on the Premier League game against Stoke City next weekend. His decision would also reflect the importance of the Europa cup to Manchester United. Another win here would be a much-needed morale booster for his side in their quest for trophies this season.
FC Zorya are 2nd on the Ukrainian Premier league table, they might be a tough team to crack, but I think United have enough firepower to blow them away. A win on the horizon for Manchester United IF Mourinho stick with the winning team.
