Jurgen Klopp travels to Stamford Bridge tonight hoping they can repeat the 3-1 victory last season against an in-form Chelsea side that still retained their 100% record at home. This would be Antonio Conte’s first big test after joining the Blues from Juventus.

Liverpool would have to cope without the services of Robert Firmino who is nursing a groin niggle, but can call on new addition, Sadio Mane, who has adjusted to the fast flowing style Liverpool has adopted since Klopp came in. James Milner is likely to continue in his unfamiliar left back role and former Chelsea man, Daniel Sturridge will be the man to be kept out from stealing the show.

Chelsea dropped two points at Swansea last weekend. Before the Swansea game, Chelsea have notched 3 wins, two at home and one away at Watford. Till date, they’ve scored 9 goals and conceded 4. They would need the monstrous figure of Diego Costa up front to shackle a rather weakened Liverpool defence that has conceded 7 goals so far this term in the league.

Key Battles

Cesar Azpilicuerta is faced with the task of keeping Mane on hold while Nathaniel Clyne would be faced with the same task on the opposite end against Eden Hazard. The lack of pace in the Chelsea defence would be a hole to exploit for the Kops while Chelsea striker Diego Costa could get the better of Joel Matip and Klavan as they are still adapting to life in the Premier league.

My Verdict

It promises to be a high-scoring game. Klopp is not the manager to sit back in games like this while Chelsea would want to impress their home fans. So expect a good piece of attacking football and a poor piece of defensive work.
